ANTHONY & STEPHANIE ELIMINATED AS KEN & TINA TAKE CONTROL

After getting into a heated fight with Terence & Sarah at the airport, separated couple Ken & Tina surged ahead to win the second leg as Teams traveled to Fortaleza, Brazil. Meanwhile, a stalled taxi out of the airport proved a telling omen for dating couple Anthony & Stephanie who became the second Team eliminated from THE AMAZING RACE.
TROUBLE IN PARADISE
At the Pit Stop before the next leg began, newly dating couple Terence & Sarah squared off over how to interact with other Teams. A tearful Sarah insisted, "I do want to be with you. I just don't want to not speak to another single person which I feel is the only thing that's going to make you feel like I want to be with you." At this remark, Terence walked away while Sarah begged for a resolution to their disagreement. Sarah later added, "I feel like every time I talk to another Team, he feels like I'm betraying him."

SUPERSIZED PLANE

Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 4:07am, siblings Nick & Starr opened their clue instructing them to fly 640 miles to Fortaleza, Brazil. When they landed, they had to travel by taxi to the tiny village of Cumbuco and find the plaza known as Plaza do Cumbuco.

At the airport, Nick & Starr met up with their alliance members, separated couple Ken & Tina as both Teams discovered the bad news that the first flight wouldn't leave until 11:30am. However, after a little more research, the foursome uncovered a flight departing at 6:45am, but it only had one available seat.

As the two Teams begged and pleaded for any help in getting them onto the 6:45am flight, newly dating couple Terence & Sarah appeared at the counter behind them. The ticket agent informed the persistent Tina that the airline switched to a larger plane so there would be plenty of room. Tina later remarked, "I think it was my persistence that encouraged them to come up with a plane with more seats."

TINA WANTS CREDIT
As other Teams began to trickle in and book their seats on the 6:45am flight, Tina decided to let them know who made it all possible. After Tina insisted she got the airline to switch to a bigger place, an incredulous Kelly & Christy said. "She's full of it." Tina even went as far as telling long distance dating couple Aja & Ty that they owed her now. Later, Ty sniped, "I don't owe her anything. Nothing at all."

While Tina walked around taking credit for the larger plane, Terence & Sarah went to the gate and staked their claim first in line because there was no assigned seating for the flight. When Ken & Tina arrived at the gate, they decided to cut in line ahead of the newly dating couple because, according to Tina, "we were the first ones to get tickets. What's fair is fair." When Terence & Sarah and best friends Mark & Bill began to complain about Ken & Tina's maneuver, Tina retorted, "You wouldn't even be on this plane if I hadn't gotten them to change it." A sarcastic Terence replied, "You got an airline to change a plane? That's amazing." The fight escalated as Ken defended Tina, telling Terence, "You get loud, I'll get loud. I've seen you in action already." Tina snidely added, in reference to an accident Terence had with a taxi door, "He bumped his head. That's why he's a little crazy." In the end, Terence took the high road and backed down, apologizing to both Ken & Tina for raising his voice at them.
A BAD START
Landing in Fortaleza, Brazil, newly dating couple Terence & Sarah took an early lead out of the airport followed by divorcees Kelly & Christy and frat boys Andrew & Dan. While they started in fourth place, dating couple Anthony & Stephanie soon fell to last when their taxi stalled. Over Stephanie's protestations Anthony tried pushing the taxi as the driver popped the clutch but it didn't work. After the couple finally got into another taxi, Anthony complained, "Everything is broken in this country…It's a joke."
WILD RIDE
Arriving at Plaza do Cumbuco in first place, Terence & Sarah opened their clue instructing them to choose a bugres, or dune buggy, and travel along the beach to the Barraca D Manuel where a vendor would hand them their next clue.

The Teams enjoyed the Brazilian sun as their bugres sped along the beautiful sandy shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Terence remarked, "The dune buggy ride on the beach was awesome. It started raining. It was like God showering us with love and joy." Southern belles Marisa & Brooke even got a surprise when a local who they waved to mooned them as a flirtatious reply.
DETOUR DECISION
Still leading the pack, Terence & Sarah opened their clue at Barraca D Manuel to find a Detour with the choice of Beach It or Dock It. In Beach It, Teams had to travel by bugres to a nearby beach where they had to choose a two-man crew and a traditional Brazilian boat. Using local methods, Teams needed to maneuver heavy rolling logs to drag the 440-pound vessel 100 yards across the sand and into an inlet. In Dock It, Teams had to travel by bugres to the nearby Port of Pecem and search for a container hidden in the shipyard. At the port, they needed to use a computer to scour a database until they find the same unique serial number listed in their clue. After finding the number, the Teams had to use the corresponding four-letter code to locate the section of the shipyard in which their container was located. Once they located their container in the section, they would find their clue inside.

Terence & Sarah, Kelly & Christy, and Toni & Dallas all descended on the beach and began placing the heavy rolling logs under the boat in order to push it across the sand. Soon, most other Teams also opted for some heavy lifting on the beach except for best friends and comic book geeks Mark & Bill. With their serial number in hand, the two scoured the database until they found the magic number of 4962932 along with the matching four-letter code SUDU. Mark quipped, "There's no possible way you're going to sit us down at a computer and we aren't just gonna tear it up."
READING IS FUNDAMENTAL
As the best friends went off to the shipyard in search of their container, Terence & Sarah muscled their way across the beach with their boat and set it adrift in the inlet. Opening their next clue, the newly dating couple discovered they needed to locate nearby taxis and take one to one to Parque de Vaquejada.

Terence & Sarah squandered their comfortable lead almost instantly as they failed to notice the yellow and red arrows that would lead them to the taxi parking lot. Instead, they ventured on their own toward the nearby village in search of a taxi while siblings Nick & Starr gained the lead by running right to the parking lot.

While Terence & Sarah had genuine problems finding taxis, divorcees Kelly & Christy created troubles that didn't even exist. After finishing the rolling of their boat to the inlet, the divorcees thought they needed to find a container, an element of the other side of the Detour. Completely confused, the pair began digging in the sand in hopes of unearthing the container as other Teams passed them after they finished hauling the boat. After falling from third place to sixth, Kelly & Christy had enough and just walked to the taxis where they realized they wasted time searching for a container they didn't need to find.

Meanwhile, Terence & Sarah watched with frustration and anger as Mark & Bill and Ken & Tina passed by them in taxis while they wandered through the village without a ride. Finally, when mother and son Toni & Dallas approached, they stopped and told Terence & Sarah where to get the taxis in the parking lot. An appreciative Terence later called the mother and son "a class act" for stopping, but the damage was done as he and Sarah now were only moments ahead of last place Anthony & Stephanie.
WALL OF WORDS
Arriving at Parque de Vaquejada in first place, best friends Mark & Bill opened their clue to discover the first Road Block on the race. In it, one team member had to locate the name of their next destination, Cicade Da Crianca, somewhere along a 600-foot wall. To accomplish it quickly, racers had to embrace the laidback local culture and resist the urge to over think the numerous Portuguese ads surrounding it.

Bill began to walk along the long wall littered with ads, words, and symbols hoping to unlock the mystery of his next destination. Soon, Tina joined Bill in the search just as he stumbled upon an easy way to solve the puzzle: write down every location in a list of sixteen at one end of the wall. Being a self-described "reflexively honest person", Bill shared the technique with Tina and both earned their next clue when they presented the location of Cicade Da Crianca to the judge. The two Teams now rushed to their taxis in a race to the Pit Stop at the park built as an oasis for the city's children.

After a friendly yet competitive taxi ride separated couple Ken & Tina unsurprisingly beat best friends Mark & Bill in a footrace to the mat. Phil rewarded the thrilled couple with a pair of off-road vehicles. Mark quipped to the separated couple, "If you guys coming in first help put your marriage back together well then screw the ATVs."
CLUELESS AGAIN
Christy very quickly pieced together the easy solution to the puzzle to vault into third place with partner Kelly. However, the pair again didn't read their clue properly and let their taxi go when they arrived at Parque de Vaquejada. Now, the divorcees frantically searched for another taxi while Terence & Sarah, Aja & Ty, and Toni & Dallas stepped on the mat in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.
SNEAKY NICK
To secure a sixth place finish, Nick admitted to a little bit of underhandedness at the wall. First, he offered to work with Sarah, but as soon as he realized she had just arrived and didn't know what to do, he bailed on the quazi-alliance prompting Sarah to exclaim, "What a jerk." Then, working with Andrew, Nick promised to return if he got the correct answer, but failed to follow through after being handed the clue. Later, Nick explained, "Andrew had nothing to offer me. I don't mind playing dirty as long as I'm the one who benefits from it."

After Kelly & Christy finally found a taxi and lamented their horrible clue reading abilities for causing a seventh place finish, frat boys Andrew & Dan, southern belles Marisa & Brooke, and dating couple Anthony & Stephanie all remained at the wall confused about how to find the correct phrase. One by one, Andrew, Marisa, and Anthony all wrote down every phrase just like the Teams before them and finally got their clue.
ELIMINATED
On the taxi ride Cicade Da Crianca, the three Teams all hoped against hope that they would survive this leg and for Andrew & Dan and Marisa & Brooke the hope became a reality. Sadly, dating couple Anthony & Stephanie arrived in last place and Phil informed them they had been eliminated from the race. Stephanie remarked, "We're definitely gonna move forward and have a future together." Anthony added, "I have a lot of things in my life to be thankful for. I have my health. I have my parents. I have my looks and I have Stephanie."

1302 ROUTE MARKERS
Road Block: A Road Block is a task that only one person can perform. In this Road Block, that team member had to locate the name of their next destination, Cicade Da Crianca, somewhere along a 600-foot wall. To accomplish it quickly, racers had to embrace the laidback local culture and resist the urge to over think the numerous Portuguese ads surrounding it.

Performed Road Block: BILL, SARAH, NICK, TINA, TONI, ANDREW, AJA, CHRISTY, ANTHONY, MARISA

Detour:
A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its pros and cons. In this Detour, Teams had to choose between Beach It or Dock It.
