|Subject: Simon Cowell Tracking Incident? Thu Dec 04, 2008 1:09 pm|| |
December 2, 2008 03:00:49 by Paulene Hinds
American Idol and The X Factor judge and music icon, Simon Cowell was “freaked out” this past week, when his security team found a tracking device attached magnetically to his Bentley Continental. Cowell’s security team found the tracking device attached to the undercarraige of the car after Cowell noticed a biker kept following him to private meetings. The person would turn up a few mintues after Simon would go anywhere and Simon couldn’t figure out how the guy knew his every move.
Apparently the tracking device was quite sophisticated and could have been used by a security service.
An insider spoke to Britain’s Daily Mail about the incident and said, “Simon is completely freaked out by this. He can’t believe someone has gone to so much trouble and expense to monitor his every movement. It’s extremely sinister.”
Cowell had his suspicions as to who was responsible and he not only contacted the police about the incident to investigate further, but had lawyers send out a national warning letter on his behalf.
The Law firm Carter-Ruck sent the letter to all UK newspapers telling them not to harass The X Factor and American Idol judge.
Cowell’s publicist, Max Clifford, told MediaGuardian.co.uk that “enough is enough”. He reported that the identity of the journalist who allegedly attached the device is known to Cowell and he has been approached.
“We know who he is and we have marked his card and told him to never do anything like that again,” Clifford said.
The letter also asked photographers and journalists not to pursue Cowell, place him under surveillance or photograph him in places where he has a reasonable expectation of privacy, including leaving or entering his home.
