Who is Spencer Pratt to turn down marriage advice from Tom Cruise?
Two weeks ago, just after Pratt and Heidi Montag eloped in Mexico, the Valkyrie star appeared briefly on The Hills Aftershow to recommend that Pratt give his woman a big wedding if that's what she wants.
Instead, Spencer brought Heidi to a courthouse to make it official...and then abruptly changed his mind.
Montag had already said "I do," but when it was Pratt's turn he hesitated.
In an apparent act of consideration for his prettier half, the bearded one decided to wait. The reason given? The two plan to create a fantasy ceremony for Heidi that would include patching things up with her family, who were disappointed to have been shut out of the couple's ring exchange.
Since the moment of those tequila-filled nuptials, Pratt has been wagging his tongue about being a newlywed. The Hills season finale tonight promised drama as the gruesome twosome appeared at the courthouse, where authorities claimed no paperwork had been put through to make Speidi legally bound.
When asked about the technical status of the couple's union, Heidi's sister Holly Montag wasn't sure. "I don't know that actually," she said. "I have no idea."
She also admitted she hadn't yet purchased a wedding present. "If they're not going to invite me to the wedding, I don't have to buy a gift, right?" she asked.
(BTW, Holly also had a rather handsome young man escorting her down the red carpet this evening. When asked if he would appear on The Hills' fifth season, she shrugged, "Maybe.")
Spencer's sister Stephanie Pratt hadn't purchased a trinket for the couple yet either, but thought the pair should register at a car dealership.
"We could all pool our money and get them new cars," she said. "That's like a great wedding gift!"
When asked about becoming an aunt to a Speidi spawn, Stephanie gawked, "I don't know if I have the stamina!"
As for the state of Audrina Patridge and Justin Bobby's union, you might need a judge and a jury to figure it out. On the episode, Justin offers his brunette babe a ring, but the bauble has no definition. On the aftershow they played the happy couple, but a few hours before on the red carpet they walked apart.
Patridge claimed the ring represented "friendship," and, when Justin was asked about his supposed lady's New Year's resolution to "meet a great guy," he merely mumbled, "Well, if she finds one, she finds one."
