(Nov. 19) -- Paris Hilton and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden are through, according to a "source close to Hilton." Reps for both Hilton and Madden were unavailable for comment, but PEOPLE reports the source saying, "[Paris] is saddened by the breakup but they're just too different and they wanted different things in life. He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break."
In an interview with PEOPLE last month, Madden was still pro-Paris. "I wear my feelings on my sleeve. I'm very open about how in love I am – Paris and I are very happy." However, the couple has been photographed partying separately in the last week, and Paris was seen chatting intimately with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos in Miami.
The source claims that Niarchos is not behind the breakup. "In no way are they romantic, nor do they want to get back together."
